republican. democrat. independent. your party doesn't matter anymore. it's fixing this mess. boxer's been there twenty-eight years. and, look what we've got. when bickering ends, solutions begin. i'm prepared to oppose my party when it's wrong. we can change washington but first you have to vote, to change the people we send there. i'm carly fiorina and i approve this message. our state is in a real mess. and i'm not going to give you any phony plans or snappy slogans that don't go anywhere. we have to make some tough decisions. we have to live within our means. we have got to take the power from the state capitol and move it down to the local level, closer to the people. and no new taxes, without voter approval. we have got to pull together not as republicans or as democrats but as californians first. at this stage in my life, i'm prepared to do exactly that.
you're watching cbs five eyewitness news. a long night in the lone star state. how the rangers managed to turning it had tables on the giants in game three. another event at the cow palace sends 17 people to the hospital. how local leaders are reacting to the latest troubles. and a handicapped man hit by a bart train. the puzzling discovery who police showed up. good evening, i'm ann notarangelo. after two wins, game 3 did not swing the giants' way. for the first time, the team battled in texas territory. that's where we have today's disappointing loss. dennis? >> it is game on, and it's a game really that i thought the texas rangers had to win.
if you look at the history, no team has come back from a three deficit, but the giants, their mantra has been to win the game with a big hit. today, it was the rangers getting off to a big start with this hit. >> moreland hits one to right, three-run shot, 3-0 texas! >> the three-run home-run proved to be enough for colby lewis who improved to 3-1 in the postseason, the rangers take game threes and 3-2. >> it's a big deal. it's a tremendous deal. you don't want to go down 0-3. we came back home, and we were able to put a game together. >> we want to come in here and go 3-0, absolutely. but it's two good teams battling out, and we've got to come in tomorrow and hopefully get this
one. >> so as the rangers got the big hit tonight, the series is 2-1, still in favor of the giants. game three tomorrow, there was a couple of times when giants fans tried to drown out rangers fans with let's go giants, and the rangers fans would have none of that. >> there were a lot of giants fans, and from all around the country, not only the dallas ft. worth area, but other parts of the country, and they were very exuberant, and you'll see the beard out here occasionally, but the other thing on the other side is the thing we call the claw, and the antler. take a look. >> reporter: in san francisco, it's fear the beard. down here, deep in the heart of texas, it's the claw, and the antler. >> this is the claw, this is the law right here, come on! give it back, come on guys! yes, sir. and this is the antler. >> all right. time for a little wildlife lesson for all you back in the

you learn something after being a veteran reporter. a lot of good-natured kidding around. they're great fans, and super nice people. >> how about the giants fans who wanted to see their team win tonight, how did they seem after the game? >> well, you know, there were people here that thought they could sweep and go home, and they would be home late sundays night or early morning. the rangers are the american league champions for a reason. they play great baseball. this is not going to be something the giants walk in and walk out of. they got their work cut out for them. the giants fans say we've waited 50 years, we'll wait a couple more nights. >> thanks, guys. well, it has happened again. a music event at the cow palace has ended with police and paramedics responding to multiple overdoses. >> people are crazy out here. >> reporter: last night, 16
people were taken to the hospital during a party at the cow palace, three considered critical, with symptoms of drug and alcohol overdose. >> we saw a lot of altered levels of consciousness, a lot of inability to maintain their own airway. >> reporter: the event was called subsonic spook fest, a concert otherwise known as a rave. this is some video we found on youtube from last night. >> their eyes were like zombie eyes. >> reporter: she came to pick up her car. she also attended a rave here in may. this is a youtube video of that party. nine people were sent to the hospital for drug overdoses that night. two later died. she says it's easy for things to get out of control. >> there's so many people out there raving. >> reporter: the cow palace is a state-owned venue. local politicians have been asking the state to shut it
down, but it hasn't happened yet. senator yee said he's planning to roll up his sleeves, wait for the new governor and bring accountability to that palace. but this event worker thinks it's being blown out of appropriation. >> there are always going to be some bad a.m.s. >> we also came here to the police department to get their take on last night's events, and they're not going to be answering any questions until tomorrow at the earliest. cbs5. a handicapped man is recovering tonight after his wheelchair rolled into the path of a train at the hayward bart station. witnesses say the man was adjusting the wheel's position. police found a gun. he's hospitalized tonight. no word on his condition. a disturbing discovery has launched a homicide investigation in san francisco.
police found a woman's body inside a home on chestnut street about 4:30 this morning. they went to the home to do a welfare check on the woman. investigators are not saying how she died or how long she may have been dead. and a reminder, there's no halloween party at san francisco's district again this year. city leaders are again encouraging people to stay in their own neighborhoods to celebrate. violence at past years ended the traditional gathering three years ago. the finish line is in sight, but the candidates aren't letting up. how jerry brown and meg whitman are making multiple stops as they sprint down the home stretch. >> are you ready to restore san -- sanity. what brought more than 100,000 people to the washington mall to send a message that enough is enough. still some scattered showers around the bay area right now.

rallying volunteers and showing a more personable side. >> thank you for everything you've done for me tonight. >> you can be out partying -- she even made a few phone calls herself. >> i'm here live in our headquarters with a whole group of very enthusiastic volunteers calling to get out the vote for the election, and i was hoping i could count on your support. >> reporter: the field poll shows whitman trailing brown by ten points, she says her own polls show a different story. >> we have a better and bigger volunteer core, and we have moretume. >> reporter: and supporters here are still pulling for her. >> it's critical that we win. >> reporter: both candidates, a big part of this final push is to simply get those who support them out to the polls.
in coopertown, cbs five eyewitness news. >> candidates for senator hit the trail today. carly fiorina appeared at leisure world in seal beach. fiorina told senior voters her business experience makes her the best candidate to deal with the nation's economic problems. senator boxer campaigned in the bay an enthusiastic crowd. she made her case that fiorina would take her country back to the bush. the race has been close, but a new field shows boxer with a lead. it's been the scene of many political rallies in the past, but never a gathering like this. tens of thousands of people from around the country gathered on the washington mall in a rally to restore sanity. on the fun had at the expense of political extremists. >> reporter: it was much larger than the 60,000 people they expected. the crowd itself was part youth
festival, part halloween party and brought an attitude that was all tongue in cheek. >> are you ready to restore sanity? [ cheering and applause ] >> reporter: but this rally to restore sanity and/or fear was all about making a point. douglas and linda paul, mild-mannered iowaens came to protest the name calling. >> there's so much false outrage, phony outrage, and it doesn't need to be there. >> reporter: that was the sanity side. cathleen ford came from north carolina with her version of fear. >> your fear is that they are the minions of al-qaeda. >> if you're here that keep fear alive on the count of three, let me here you say, oooooh! >> reporter: no politician took the stage. this was more a concert, headlined by kid rock and
cheryl crowe. ♪[ music ] >> reporter: stewart and colbert also played for laughs by singing. but then stewart got serious and outlined why he was here, pointing his finger at the insanity he says in the shoutfests on tv. >> we work together to get things done every damn day! [ cheering and applause ] >> the only place we don't is here or on cable tv. >> reporter: the ron and anita han, who took the bus here from oklahoma, sending that message was worth it. >> the important thing was we got here, and we lent our voice to this call for reason. >> reporter: after two years of contentious politics, this was a unique event. typically, rallies are held to highlight the heat of a particular issue, but this was the rising up of a quieter kind
of american asking that the debates cool down. >> all right. our meteorologist joining us now, and you know tomorrow is halloween, which means we're -- >> trick ertreaters, yeah. we were worried about that, it's coming through right now, we're seeing some showers, but i think it is going to come to an end just in time for halloween. so trick-or-treating looks to be safe. other -- out there right now, a lot of spooky-looking clouds, but just scattered showers, but those are starting to wind down as a weak, cold front kind of limping into the state with high pressure beginning to build in. you can see it confined to the north bay now as we've seen some scattered showers up in that direction north and south right now and heading up towards the napa valley, but some light activity, and it is going to be coming to an end. so with that in mind, here comes this cold front, dropping down into california, a lot of clouds moving on by, but they will continue to make their way eastward so by tomorrow, a couple of leftover clouds and
hey, the temperatures looking pretty good, 60s by tomorrow afternoon, inland 60s, out towards the coastline, partly cloudy a little bit on the breezy side, but not a bad day, not a bad day at all for trick-or-treaters. how about this, temperatures around the bay area, 50s for you're headed out the door right now, on the cool decide. if you're headed around the state, temperatures in the upper 60s in towards fresno, high temperatures 60s and 50s, but the showers begin to creep in. remnants of that cold front, so expect rainfall in that part of the state. still looks like we'll stay high and dry tomorrow, but i think we've got a major heat-up coming our way. it will bring with it a few more scattered showers overnight tonight, but once that moves on by, i'll tell you what, this ridge of high pressure really going to amplify, and we're in for some warm weather as we head in the middle fortunate next week. as we look toward tomorrow, 69 degrees in liver more, 67 in santy rosa, 69 degrees in san
jose and 63 in pacifica. next couple of days, some itch chas in the weather high pressure going to build in, off shore winds likely to kick in, some of those temperatures near 80 degrees as we head towards tuesday and wednesday. by next weekend no, chance of more showers returning to the bay area. so with that in mind, trick-or-treaters can enjoy this, some partly cloudy skies, you might need a light jacket, temperatures running into the 50s and also below 60s, and by the way, there are a couple of football games going on. we've got one across the pond there in wembley. cloudy and cool there, a slight chance of a few showers there. and how about the place where it's always halloween, the raiders coliseum? it's always halloween out there. i don't know if it will look any different there, but the weather will be partly cloudy, temperatures about 65 degrees, a great day to be out there and see a game or whatever else you want to do. >> it will fun to see the crowd out there tomorrow. >> i don't think it will be any

and 0-9 in the series. top of the 7th, codee ross gets the giants on the board with a solo shot to left, and it's 4-1 rangers. in the 8th, andres torres joins the home-run derby, solo shot to right, first of the postseason for torres . the giants are within two runs, but they would get no closer. feliz pitches a 123 night, rangers beat the giants 4-2 for their worst world series win in franchise history. >> how big of a deal was this in order to get this first game? >> it's a big deal. we was down 0-2. you don't want to go down 0-3. we came back home where we comfortable, and we were able to put a game together. >> morland hits one to right, 3-1 shot! a nice pitch at bat.
